Depraved Minds
Everyone seems to recognize that we are living in crazy times. Something is not right.
Politically and culturally the world seems to be falling apart. Then there is COVID and the completely mixed-up medical and supposedly "scientific" response.
I am regularly contacted by people trying to prove the earth is flat. There are giant swarms of locusts in eastern Africa and India. And aliens (UFOs) are in the news.
People are buying guns in record numbers. They are afraid. Afraid of rioters, criminals, and a "society" and culture that is out of control.
Christians recognize what is happening as being described in Romans chapter one:
Verse 24: God gave them up to vile impurity in the lusts of their hearts.
Verse 26: God gave them over to degrading passions;
Verse 28: God gave them up to a depraved mind.
Romans 1 verse 21: For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their reasonings, and their senseless hearts were darkened.
When we turn away from God, God turns away from us. When we want less of God, God gives us less of Himself by withdrawing His restraint on sin, turning us over to vile impurity, degrading passions, and a depraved mind. That's why things are crazy.
Some people are looking for a political solution, turning to government to save them. However, most people don't know what to do, except hunker down and hope things get better. In the past they have gotten better... however it doesn't look like things will get better on their own this time.
Turn to socialism! It will bring justice and economic equality... and end racism. Socialism is the answer! Except socialism has NEVER worked in the past. Study history. Don't believe the lie. Socialism has ALWAYS done the opposite of what it promises... it brings misery and makes life worse.
Turn to conservatism, whatever that means. Lower taxes. Fewer regulations. More good paying jobs. Sounds good... but if it does not address the real problem, it is not the solution. Conservatism attempts to apply Biblical solutions (in many cases), but without God. It will not work and will not be accepted by depraved minds.
A depraved mind will almost always make the wrong choice. A depraved mind will choose the lusts of the heart and degrading passions. A depraved mind will rule through lies, deception, cheating and theft... and there will be no one to stand against the depraved minds... except... a remnant of Christians, Christ's representatives on earth.
The problem is that ALL of humanity is fallen. All of humanity is thoroughly corrupted. Sin has corrupted us all, and it is because of God's love that He has restrained the effects of sin. The natural and normal condition of all of humanity is that of lusts, degrading passions, and depraved minds. That's who we are without God restraining the effect of sin on us. What is happening right now is that God is letting us be who we are. We have rejected God, so God gives us what we wanted... God withdraws... and insanity rules.
What Is The Solution?
It's not religion. The answer is not in religion. The answer is Jesus. Always just Jesus. Religion is about doing things. Jesus is about repentance and belief. He has already done everything that needs doing.
And don't fall for the lie of evolution. You know God is real... His creation reveals Him...
For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, that is, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, being understood by what has been made, so that they are without excuse. Romans 1:20
And don't fall for a false Jesus. A Jesus that exists only in the imagination of men.
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. Many [false believers, following a false Jesus] will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; leave Me, you who practice lawlessness.’" Matthew 7:21-23
What does God ask of us?
From that time Jesus began to preach and say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Matthew 4:17
Therefore, repent of this wickedness of yours, and pray to the Lord that, if possible, the intention of your heart will be forgiven you. Acts 8:22
Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; the one who comes to Me will not be hungry, and the one who believes in Me will never be thirsty." John 6:35
Simon Peter answered Jesus, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have words of eternal life." John 6:68
The solution to what is happening is Jesus. ALWAYS JESUS. There is no other.
For this reason also God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. - Philippians 2:9-11
The entire intelligent universe, humanity, angels, those in heaven AND those in hell, will worship Jesus Christ.
Jesus is Lord. The one who has the right to rule. Everyone, the entire universe, will acknowledge that, either willingly and with joy, or unwillingly and painfully.
His is the Name above all names. He is above and beyond any and all comparisons. Everyone will bow, those in heaven and those in the eternal lake of fire. Every knee will bow.
Lord of all means not only the right to rule, but mastery and ownership of those whom He rules. He has sovereign authority over all that exists.
