Jesus Always Is Peace
"Most people in our world don't understand peace as a positive concept. All they know is the negative aspect of peace, which is merely the absence of trouble. The definition of peace in many languages of the world illustrates that. For example, the Quechua Indians in Ecuador and Bolivia use a word for peace that literally translates, "to sit down in one's heart." For them peace is the opposite of running around in the midst of constant anxieties. The Chol Indians of Mexico define peace as "a quiet heart." Those may be beautiful ways to put it, but they still seem to leave us with only the negative idea that peace is the absence of trouble.”
"Close to the meaning of the Hebrew word shalom is the word used by the Kekchi Indians of Guatemala, who define peace as "quiet goodness." The term they use conveys the idea of something that is active and aggressive, not just a rest in one's own heart away from troublesome circumstances."
“The biblical concept of peace does not focus on the absence of trouble. Biblical peace is unrelated to circumstances; it is a goodness of life that is not touched by what happens on the outside." - The Gift of Peace, John MacArthur
Peace seems elusive. It seems like everyone wants peace, but there is no peace. There is no love. Violence and war comes easy. Why?
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” - John 16:33
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. - Philippians 4:6
“There is no peace for the wicked,” says the Lord. - Isaiah 48:22
We want peace, yet wars never seem to end. Why? Peace brings prosperity. War brings deprivation, famine and sickness. Yet there is always violence and war. Why?
The Answer: There cannot be peace among humanity until there is peace between humanity and God... the true God of the Bible. As long as you deny your Creator, you have made yourself an enemy of God and there will be no peace.
In addition, the peace we have in Jesus is greater than simply the cessation of war. It is an all-encompassing peace that is not dependent on our circumstances. We have peace even in the face of adversity, persecution and death.
Where can we find this peace? The answer is ALWAYS JESUS.
For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity. - Ephesians 2:14-16
Let's add some context:
"made both one" - The word "both" refers to two groups, the Jews and Gentiles (non-Jews). There were huge differences between these two groups that, in effect, put a massive wall between them. There was even a physical wall in the Temple, referred to as the "wall of separation" in the above verse. This wall separated areas that were only accessible to Jews from the area where Gentiles were allowed, the court of the Gentiles. For these two groups to come together
in any way at all was impossible.
These two groups, Jews and Gentiles, could not come together in any way. Jews considered Gentiles to be dirty dogs (dogs were generally not pets back then). Even God fearing Gentiles, those were Gentiles who had accepted Judaism, were still not allowed in a synagogue. They stood outside the windows and listened. The point is, that even these two groups, who were separate in every way, religious and secular who could not come together even in Judaism were together in Christ. That meant that all walls between them, in all realms, were gone.
Yet, Jesus broke down that wall of separation. In Ephesians 2 (above) Paul is saying that Jesus made these two separate groups into one. It was impossible, but through Jesus they are now one.
Think of the divisions we have in America today. BLM, Antifa, conservatives, progressives... can they be reconciled? Yes, in Christ.
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. - Galatians 3:28
Jesus has abolished those things that kept the Jews and Gentiles separated... the Old Testament Ceremonial Laws, festivals, and sacrifices... these symbols of separation are gone. In Christ, Jews and Gentiles are now one. The sacrifice of Jesus on the cross has removed all barriers. Jesus Christ does not exclude anyone who comes to Him. Both groups, Jews and non-Jews (meaning everyone in the world), have been made into a new man unlike anything that has existed before. Christians. All who believe are new in Christ. There are no longer Jews nor Gentiles. Both have been brought to God... have been reconciled to God through Christ Jesus.
This is a picture of how peace comes to the world. Through Jesus. Only through Jesus.
Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful. - John 14:27
Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. - Romans 5:1
As long as people refuse to believe in Jesus Christ, there will be no peace. As long as people refuse to repent and trust Jesus, they will turn against one another in greed, and pride, and envy. Peace will only come when all non-believers are...
judged, each one according to his works. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire. - Revelation 20:13b-14
Believe today. Repent and Trust Jesus. The answer is ALWAYS JESUS!
Always Jesus. There is no other. The answer is always Jesus.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. - John 14:6
Jesus is the only answer. He is the only way. Our time on earth is short compared with eternity. Jesus is the door to eternity in the Kingdom of God. Go through the door today.
But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes we are healed. - Isaiah 53:5 speaking about Jesus 600 years before Jesus was born.
Do not turn away from Jesus. Do not trust a false Jesus. Trust Jesus, who through His work on the cross did everything necessary to save you. There is nothing you can do, or could have done.
The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. - 2 Peter 3:9
It's been 2000 years. God has been patient. But, the time is coming when He will judge the world in righteousness. Sin, evil, wickedness and sinners will no longer exist. All will be in the lake of fire.
Trust Jesus. Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved. - Acts 16:31
